The difference between open-cell metal foam and closed-cell metal foam

First, open-cell metal foam and closed-cell metal foam are two kinds of metal foam materials, the difference between them is that the shape of the pores is different.

1. Thermal insulation materials: The density of closed-cell metal foam is generally between 100-300kg/m³, with good thermal insulation and thermal conductivity. Therefore, it can effectively prevent heat loss and transfer, and is widely used in air conditioning, insulation materials and other fields.
2. Sound insulation material: closed cell metal foam has better sound insulation effect than open cell metal foam under the same density. Therefore, it is widely used in building sound insulation, locomotive sound insulation, ship sound insulation, aircraft sound insulation and other fields.
3. Energy absorbing materials: Because the pores of closed-cell metal foam are completely closed, it can convert pressure into displacement energy and elastic energy, and has good energy dissipation.
