The Role of Niobium Expanded Mesh in Diamond Electrodes

[1] Work As an Electrode Substrate:  Niobium expanded mesh can serve as a supporting substrate for diamond thin films, providing a stable platform for the growth of diamond. Through methods such as Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), diamond thin films can be deposited on the surface of niobium expanded mesh to form niobium-based diamond electrodes. This type of electrode combines the excellent properties of niobium with the unique characteristics of diamond, exhibiting good electrochemical performance.

[2]Enhancing Electrode Performance: The niobium expanded mesh can improve the performance of diamond electrodes. For example, its good electrical conductivity can reduce the internal resistance of the electrode and improve electron transfer efficiency, thereby enhancing the electrochemical activity of the electrode. In addition, the high strength and toughness of niobium expanded mesh can increase the mechanical strength of the electrode, making it easier to operate and use.

[3] Increasing Electrode Surface Area:  The porous structure of niobium expanded mesh can increase the surface area of the electrode, allowing diamond thin films to grow over a larger area. This increases the contact area between the electrode and the electrolyte, improving the reaction efficiency and catalytic performance of the electrode. At the same time, the porous structure also promotes the diffusion of the electrolyte, facilitating the transport of reactants and products.

Such as: The stretching process allows precise adjustment of mesh size (e.g., 0.1-5mm), wire diameter, and porosity (typically reaching 50%-80%), thereby flexibly controlling the specific surface area of the electrode.

[4] Improving Film Adhesion:  During the preparation of diamond electrodes, the mismatch in thermal expansion coefficients between metals and diamond can lead to large internal stress in the film, affecting the bonding performance between the film and the substrate. However, the special structure and properties of niobium expanded mesh, such as appropriate thermal expansion coefficient and surface roughness, help to relieve this internal stress, improve the adhesion between the diamond thin film and the substrate, and extend the service life of the electrode.
