H62 Brass Wire Mesh

Detailed Specifications

H62 brass wire mesh material is a Chinese standard (GB/T) for a common brass alloy. It is approximately equivalent to C27400 in the U.S. Its composition is:

Brass Grade  Copper (Cu) Zinc (Zn)
H62  60.5% – 63.5% balanced

Mesh count: 1-200#

Roll Size: 1x30m 1.22x30m

Packing: Water-proof paper wrapped inside, then wooden box.

Key Characteristics & Advantages of H62 Brass Wire Mesh

  1. Good Corrosion Resistance:

    • It resists corrosion from moisture, atmospheric weather, and many water-based solutions better than carbon steel.

    • It develops a protective patina (a greenish film) over time when exposed to certain environments, which can further slow down corrosion. Note that this is different from rust.

  2. Excellent Electrical and Thermal Conductivity:

    • Brass is a very good conductor of both electricity and heat. This makes H62 mesh ideal for applications involving EMI/RFI shielding, electrical grounding, and heat dissipation.

  3. Non-Sparking:

    • This is a critical safety feature. When struck against another metal, brass generates sparks with low heat energy, making it safe for use in volatile, flammable, or explosive environments (e.g., oil and gas, chemical plants, grain processing).

  4. Antimicrobial Properties (Oligodynamic Effect):

    • Copper and its alloys, like brass, have inherent antimicrobial properties. They can kill a wide range of harmful microbes, including bacteria and viruses, on contact. This is a valuable, though not always the primary, characteristic.

  5. Malleability and Ductility:

    • H62 brass is relatively soft and ductile, making it easier to weave into complex patterns, form, and install without cracking. It is less rigid than stainless steel.

  6. Attractive Appearance:

    • It has a distinctive, warm gold-like color, making it suitable for decorative applications, architectural grilles, and radiator grilles.

Applications

The unique properties of H62 brass direct it toward specific uses:

  1. Filtration & Screening:

    • Oil and Fuel Filters: In non-aggressive environments, especially where non-sparking tools are required for maintenance.

    • Filtering Air and Water: In residential and some industrial systems.

    • Sifting Grains and Powders: In food and chemical industries where its non-sparking property is a safety benefit.

  2. Shielding:

    • EMI/RFI Shielding: Used in electronic cabinets, communication equipment, and computer housings to block electromagnetic or radio frequency interference.

  3. Decorative & Architectural:

    • Insect Screens for high-end windows and doors.

    • Radiator Grilles for classic and luxury automobiles.

    • Room Dividers, Lamp Shades, and Artistic Installations.

    • Architectural facades and interior design elements.

  4. Industrial Safety:

    • Screens and Guards in explosive atmospheres (e.g., chemical plants, flour mills, paint spray booths) because of its non-sparking nature.

  5. Other Specialized Uses:

    • Soldering & Brazing Meshes: Used as a support or filler material.

    • Spark Arrestors: In chimneys, exhausts, and vents.
