Features

Core Electrochemical Parameters for 300 micron nickel felts in AEM Water Electrolysis:

Parameter Type Specific Value Description
Double-Layer Capacitance (Cdl) 0.66mF/cm² Increased by 135% compared to traditional nickel foam electrodes (0.28mF/cm²), corresponding to a significantly expanded electrochemically active surface area that provides more catalytic reaction sites.
High-Frequency Resistance (HFR) 126±5.9mΩ·cm² Reduced by 20% compared to nickel foam electrodes (158±5.6mΩ·cm²), with impedance increasing gently as current density rises, which can reduce ohmic loss during electrolysis.
Typical Operating Voltage Approximately 2.40V at 2A/cm² This voltage is 133mV lower than that of nickel foam electrodes under the same operating conditions (2.53V). With dynamic polarization regulation and other strategies, the voltage of alkaline electrolyzers can be reduced to around 1.8V at 1A/cm².
Overpotential Optimization Effect Activation overpotential reduced by 70mV at 2A/cm² Ohmic overpotential is reduced by 63mV, showing obvious comprehensive overpotential advantages. This stems from the improved microstructure’s enhancement of bubble management and active site utilization.
Applications

1. Hydrogen production/water electrolysis: Serving as the anode diffusion layer in AEM electrolyzers, enhancing gas-liquid transfer efficiency.
2. MH-Ni battery: used as the positive electrode framework material to enhance electrode conductivity and cycle life.
3. Catalyst support: Due to its high porosity and thermal stability, it is suitable for monolithic catalytic reactors.
4. Filter element: It can be used for filtering high-temperature gases or liquids, with a temperature resistance of up to hundreds of degrees Celsius or higher.
